Sale Eisteddfod will have new choir stands and audio equipment following the approval of funding from the #lovegippsland Stronger Communities Program.
The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester announced $5000 toward the replacement of essential equipment when he visited Sale Memorial Hall this week.
“The Sale Eisteddfod Committee urgently needs to upgrade choir stands to comply with safety standards and to increase participation,” Mr Chester said.
“The committee will also purchase its own audio mixer and CD player to improve sound quality and reduce the burden on volunteers.”
Sale Eisteddfod Committee President Melissa Hall said the new equipment would make the set up process easier for club volunteers and improve the experience for community groups who compete.
“In addition to our aging choir stands, we currently rely on the Memorial Hall’s audio equipment, which can be unreliable and takes many hours for our volunteers to set up and troubleshoot,” Mrs Hall said.
“Having our own equipment will make it easier for our volunteers to prepare for an eisteddfod and it will improve the sound quality for competitors and the audience.”
Mrs Hall said the Sale Eisteddfod Committee would match the Federal Government grant and purchase ergonomic judging chairs and a new laptop and printer to make better use of the Eisteddfod’s webpage and social media for promotion of its events and communication with members.
