• Community information sessions for key road upgrades to be held in Cann River and Lakes Entrance

• Projects part of the $50 million Princes Highway upgrade from Sale to the NSW border, with record investment on the way for Gippsland roads

Cann River and Lakes Entrance residents can have their say on how two key election commitments are rolled out as preparations ramp up for delivering a record investment in the region’s roads.

Federal Member for Gippsland DARREN CHESTER is inviting feedback on a proposed new roundabout at the intersection of the Princes and Monaro Highways at Cann River, and on early design concepts for the Lakes Entrance masterplan.

“Two upcoming community sessions will give local residents and businesses the perfect opportunity to find out more about these upgrades and to help shape the projects,” Mr Chester said.

“They are both part of the $50 million Princes Highway East upgrade between Sale and the New South Wales border.

“The Australian and Victorian governments are investing record funding into Gippsland roads, with a further $80 million toward upgrading the Great Alpine Road, the Hyland Way, the Monaro Highway and the South Gippsland Highway at Koonwarra. “These projects are crucial to the ongoing development and liveability of the region and I encourage people to come along to one of these information sessions to have their say.

“The Cann River session will cover design concepts for the new roundabout, a new truck rest area and improved street scaping through the township. The Lakes Entrance project is set to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety.”

The community sessions will be held:

• Cann River: Wednesday March 29, 2017; Cann River Community Centre, 13 Princes Highway, Cann River; 2pm to 7pm

• Lakes Entrance: Wednesday April 19, 2017; Mechanics Hall, 18 Mechanics Street, Lakes Entrance; 10am to 8pm.
