Students from Lakes Entrance Primary School found a familiar face when they visited Parliament House on Monday.

They were greeted by The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester, who is also Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Defence.

The design of Parliament House is based on the shape of two boomerangs and topped by an 81-metre flagpole.  It contains 4,700 rooms.

The local students enjoyed a tour of the building before they caught up with Mr Chester to hear about life in politics and Australia’s political system.

Pictured with Mr Chester are (left to right) Ben Richardson and Maddie Kleijnsma of Lakes Entrance Primary School.
