Funding is available to host events across Gippsland that will encourage more women to pursue careers in primary industries.

The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester encouraged local organisations and women working in primary industries to apply for funding to hold events that will promote leadership.

“Providing networks for local farmers to share and build on their knowledge will eventually lead to better achievements and more efficient businesses,” Mr Chester said.

“I hope women working in the local primary industry sector will take advantage of the ‘Recognising Women Farmers Grants’ to encourage other women to consider a career in the industry.”

The grants are available to:

* Build and share knowledge and experience.
* Increase access to planning tools and resources.
* Develop leadership and management skills.
* Develop programs to increase participation in agriculture, fisheries and forestry industries.
* Develop skills to contribute more effectively to government and industry decision making.
* Build networks among rural, regional and remote Australians.
