Almost 220 photographs have been received for Darren Chester’s annual #lovegippsland 2018 Calendar of Gippsland.

Entries for the photo competition have now closed and judging is underway to select the 13 photographs to be reproduced in the free calendar.

Mr Chester said he was impressed by the standard of the 218 entries, which included 21 in the junior category.

“We live in the most beautiful part of Australia, so it’s no surprise that our local photographers have been inspired by Gippsland,” Mr Chester said.

“The entries capture the many and varied faces of our region, from the coast to the mountains and our towns, rivers, forests, lakes and beaches.

“What I see in this collection of photographs is the affection of the photographers for our special corner of the world.”

With the theme Take A Break in Gippsland, the photos depict locations that could be destinations for tourists and day-trippers.

The photographs selected for inclusion in the calendar will be announced at the end of November. There are accommodation prizes for the open and junior categories, donated by Beachcomber Caravan Park in Mallacoota and Bridges on Argyle in Traralgon.

More than 20,000 copies of Mr Chester’s calendar will be distributed free of charge across the electorate.
